Hey Fal Pals… I know you all will be a little upset but I have been holding out on a secret for a long time….
Long story short, I had my probate this past Monday! I am proud to say that I am now a member of the illustrious Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Anyone that knows me knows that this is all I have wanted my entire life, and the icing on the cake is my mom is also a part of this great organization!
Growing up I have always looked up to the woman of this organization, not only because my mom was a part of it, but because these women give service to all mankind. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was founded in 1908 as the first black sorority known to man at Howard University in Washington D.C.
This great sorority was founded by 9 phenomenal teenagers who wanted to give back to their communities as well as promote high scholastics. One generation removed from slavery, these women beat the odds and started something great, something no one had seen before. These very women set the tone of what young black college educated woman should strive to be like, and soon after came 3 more black sororities.
Monday was the jump-start to our “Skee-Week” known as a week on the campus where AKA’s give back to the community in a number of ways. So far we have held a study session as well as a canned food drive, be on the look-out for more great things to come from my sisters and myself!
So excited and blessed to be a part of the Phirst and the Phinest! Well, thats all for this weekend… I wonder what next week will have in store?
Until next time pals…See ya soon!
